The Florence Immersion Uffizi Gallery Tour
The Uffizi Gallery is home to the largest collection of Renaissance art in the world which is so intertwined with the city and its history that it cannot be missed if you want to understand Florence.
This short introductory tour concentrates on the Italian masterpieces of the Renaissance period. If you already have an interest or if you have visited the gallery before, just let us know and your guide can customise the tour to include particular works or themes.
When wealthy merchants of the late middle ages were looking for somewhere to spend their new fortunes, they commissioned artists to paint and sculpt for them, territory that had belonged exclusively to the church for centuries, sparking what we now call the ‘Rinascimento’ the new period of learning in art, architecture, literature and science that would change western civilisation for ever; the Renaissance.
Your expert guide will teach you to 'read' the hidden meanings, tell you scandalous stories of the artists, the models and the money that paid for the commissions. Starting with some medieval pieces to give you some context, your guide will lead you through the major works of the Renaissance including Lippi, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo.
The cost of the private guide for a three hour tour: from £225 (there is a small price increase per person if you are booking for more than four people).
Please note that the price of the guide does not include the ticket price. We will arrange timed-entry tickets for you to reduce waiting times, however some waiting in line is unavoidable. If you are booking for six or more people, personal headsets are required so that everyone can hear the guide easily, we will arrange headset rental for you at a small extra cost.
